Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 24: Punjab National Bank (PNB) today organised a function in coordination with Agriculture Department, at Arnia to disburse Kissan Credit Cards (KCCs). The function was inaugurated by Deputy General Manager, Circle Head, J&K Operations, Ashok Gupta, accompanied by Agriculture Extension Officer, Bishnah, Dr Rakesh Khajuria. Over 120 KCCs were distributed to the farmers on the occasion. In his welcome address, Gupta gave broader outline of KCC Scheme aiming at providing adequate and timely support from the banking system to the farmers. He added that the scheme would be beneficial to the farmers for boosting their agriculture activities and help them in meeting timely short term credit requirements for cultivation of crops, post harvest expenses and profitable marketing of their produce. Encouraging the farmers to diversify into other allied agro based activities like horticulture and floriculture, he assured them all possible financial support. Dr Rakesh Khajuria appreciated the role of PNB in reaching out to people and farmer community in particular, in rural and far-flung areas. He urged the farmers to avail the maximum benefits of the KCC scheme to improve their economic conditions. District Coordinator, PNB, SS Chib, Senior Manager, Arnia branch, JS Saini, Rakesh Kumar, large number of beneficiaries and staff members of the Bank were present on the occasion.
