RAJOURI, Apr 27: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) today organized one-day awareness workshop regarding Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) at Government PG College, Rajouri.
A large number of faculty members and students participated. They included faculty and students of Government PG College Rajouri; Principal GDC Poonch; Principal GDC Thanamandi and Principals and students of various Higher Secondary Schools of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
Special Secretary, Higher Education and chief guest, Ch Rashid Azam Inqalabi, while discussing the scheme asked the teachers and student community of the area to remain committed to the cause of education. He further emphasized the need for reaping the benefits of such schemes.
The Special Secretary, explained the main parameters of the scheme which include passing 10+2 Exam from JKBOSE or CBSE affiliated schools located in J&K, family income not exceeding Rs 8 lakh per annum, applying online, State Subject (Domicile) of J&K state, and passing 10+3 Diploma from J&K State Polytechnic for admission directly in second year in prescribed list of Colleges against the vacant seats of previous year.
Deputy Director, AICTE, Anand Sharma highlighted all the aspects of PMSSS programme. He made use of power point presentation while elaborating the different features of the PMSSS.
Dr Ajeet Angral, Consultant PMSSS, J&K discussed the pros and cons of the schemes and its relevance for the students of J&K.
Principal of the College, Dr Javaid Ahmed Qazi, in his welcome address, highlighted the relevance of the schemes to the audience while Prof Abdul Karim, HoD, Computer Sciences gave briefing of the programme organized by AICTE.
The programme was followed by a detailed interactive session with the students and faculty.
