PM’s Advisor reviews progress of ‘Udaan, Himayat’

SRINAGAR, May 12:  To review the functioning and progress of “Udaan” and “Himayat”, S Ramadorai, Advisor to Prime Minister held a meeting at University of Kashmir here today.
Impressing upon the Universities and nodal agencies to play a pro-active role in bringing more and more unemployed youth within the ambit of the schemes, PM‘s Advisor S Ramadorai said that these are the initiatives of the Prime Minister and Prime Minister’s Advisory Council and it is the responsibility of the Universities and nodal agencies to ensure that youth are mobilised by upgrading and transforming the career counselling centres and placement cells into dynamic forums.
He said by providing employment to the unemployed youth the corporate tap the unexplored potential of the bright youngsters of J&K and the youth in return get exposure and employment opportunities.
Ramadorai said that the Vice Chancellors and placement officers of various centres and institutes of J&K must also themselves visit different companies in private sectors and interact with them so that they come to know about the requirements of these corporates in different fields.
He said that whatever recommendations have come-up today would be forwarded to the Advisory Council and efforts would be made to make the skill training programs more diverse and interesting.
Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad assured that University will provide whatever support is required to make the programs successful.
Presenting a power point presentation experts from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) said that need of the hour is to take up the massive skill development project and focus is to reach out to all colleges and apprise them about the registration process.
The meeting besides others was attended by Vice Chancellor Iust Prof AR Trag, Vice Chancellor Prof Tej Pratap, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asghar Samoon, Registrar University of Kashmir Prof S Fayaz, Principals of various degree colleges, Directors and placement officers of various counselling and placement cell of the Universities of Kashmir, representatives from NSDC and members from corporate world including Don Bosco, ILFS, IndiaCan, Cap Foundation and CII.
Later the delegation of members led by PM‘s advisor held an interactive session with the students of the University at the media house of EMMRC where a short film made by the participants of last batch of UDAAN in Kolkatta was shown.
