PM to visit Varanasi tomorrow, Malvia,Vajpayee likely to be given Bharat Ratna

VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in his parliamentary constituency only for just few hours tomorrow to participate in the Good Governance Day functions on the birth anniversary of BJP stalwart and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and founder of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Pt Madan Mohan Malviya.
On the other hand, Centre is likely to honour both Pandit Malvia and Mr Vajpayee with the highest honour of Bharat Ratna on their birthdays tomorrow.
With unprecedented security in place in view of the threat perception after the Peshawar attack, Mr Modi could announce a series of measures to improve governance besides launching development and welfare schemes worth over Rs 213 crores for his constituency.
However, the scheduled programme of the PM could be delayed due to the foggy conditions in the temple city for the past couple of days and hence authorities have made all arrangements like his travel on motorcade in the city or his overnight stay. Earlier, the PM had to cancel his visit to Varanasi on October 14 last due to Hudhud cyclone and later he visited on November 7 to adopt a village under Adarsh gram yojna.    Though the PM will only visit Assi Ghat,BHU and DLW tomorrow, he could also lay the foundation stone for an Inter University Centre in Banaras Hindu University, inauguration of a three-day cultural festival -Sanskriti- put together by the various arms of the Culture ministry.
Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani and Culture Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma are also expected to accompany the PM.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav would skip tomorrow’s PM visit and has deputed state health Minister Ahmed Hasan to welcome the PM in the state.    UP Chief Secretary has also reviewed the state government’s preparations for the PM’s visit yesterday and he has ordered all arrangements to be foolproof. (UNI)
