CHANDIGARH, Dec 7:
Condemning the demolition of a temple in Karachi, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to immediately take up the issue with the Pakistan government.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Badal said the sentiments of the Hindu community had been gravely hurt by the razing of Sri Ram Pir Mandir at Soldier Bazaar in Karachi, a century old temple.
The Chief Minister sought the personal intervention of Singh in this regard.
He also hoped that necessary legal action would be initiated by Pakistan against the accused and adequate security would be provided to the minority communities in that country.
The temple was demolished by a builder on December 1 despite a Pakistani court hearing a petition seeking stay on such a move. (PTI)
