PM pays tributes to 1971 heroes of Indian Armed Forces

NEW DELHI :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid  tributes to the Indian Armed personnel on Vijay Diwas and  remembered their sacrifices and valour in the 1971 war.    “On Vijay Diwas, we remember sacrifices and valour of our Armed Forces who fought courageously in 1971. We are extremely proud of them,” the Prime Minister said.    Also, Lieutenant General (Retd) J F R Jacob, one of the  architects of the victory of Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 war, presented his books ‘An Odyssey in War and Peace : An Autobiography Lt Gen J F R Jacob’ and ‘Surrender at Dacca’ to Prime Minister.
The three Service Chiefs were also present on the occasion.    The Prime Minister, while welcoming the Generals, said  Lt Gen Jacob is known for his impeccable service to the Army.     “On this historic day, glad to have met Lt Gen (Retd) JFR Jacob, known for his impeccable service to the Army. I thank Lt General (Retd) Jacob for presenting me with his books, ‘An Odyssey in War & Peace’ and ‘Surrender at Dacca’,” said Mr Modi. (AGENCIES)
