PM to launch schemes for labour reforms tomorrow

NEW DELHI :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will  unveil various schemes here tomorrow aimed at bringing much-awaited reforms in labour sector and create a conducive environment for the success of ‘Make in India’ initiative.    The Prime Minister will launch a scheme – Satyamev Jayate – to bring transparency in the labour sector while removing  difficulties at workforce and providing conducive atmosphere  to entrepreneurs as well.
To begin with, a unified labour web portal-the Shram  Suvidha portal–will be launched where all the labour laws enacted over the period of time will be made available on one platform.
Labour Inspection Scheme and Portability through Universal Account Number for Employees Provident Fund will also be launched.
“There are 44 labour laws, of which, 16 come under the  ambit of the Central government,” Mr A K Sinha, Additional Secretary, Labour, told UNI.
The portal will spell out the jurisdiction of these  acts and help entrepreneurs to get online registration after which, they shall be allotted a Labour ID number.     To bring accountability in the inspection processes of  the industrial units, Mr Singh said, every inspector would  be asked to submit his report within three working days to  the government.
Moreover, the National Health Insurance Scheme for  unorganised sector will be strengthened and various other  schemes for the sector merged. The benefits of these schemes would be available through a ‘smart card’.     The Prime Minister will also release a booklet of National Brand Ambassadors for Vocational Training and souvenir for  all India skill competitions.
He will felicitate national brand ambassadors for vocational training, distribute prizes to awardees of all India skill competitions and Launch ‘Apprentices Protsahan Yojana.’ (AGENCIES)
