PM hails Cabinet’s decisions, says farmers to benefit, connectivity will enhance

NEW DELHI, May 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the Union Cabinet’s approval to hike the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops, a scheme to promote surface coal gasification projects and other rail and aviation projects, saying these will help farmers, strengthen connectivity, boost commerce and create new opportunities for growth.

In a series of posts on X, Modi said to safeguard the interests of the farmer brothers and sisters across the country and increase their income, the NDA government is continuously taking important decisions.

“In this direction, our government has approved an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for kharif crops for the marketing season 2026-27. This decision will ensure that crores of food providers in the country receive fair and profitable prices for their produce, while bringing greater prosperity to their lives,” he said.

On the Cabinet’s approval to upgrade the Nagpur International Airport through a public-private partnership, Modi said it is a major boost to the city’s infrastructure.

“The Cabinet decision relating to Nagpur Airport will accelerate its emergence as a key aviation and cargo hub. This will strengthen connectivity, boost commerce and create new opportunities for growth,” he said.

Commenting on the approval of the construction of a 134-km semi-high-speed double rail line between Ahmedabad and Dholera in Gujarat, the prime minister said it will strengthen Dholera’s rise as a major centre of opportunity, enterprise and future-ready infrastructure.

“Today’s Cabinet decision on the Ahmedabad (Sarkhej)-Dholera Semi High-Speed Double Line project is a landmark in India’s rail modernisation journey. Built with indigenously developed technology, this first-of-its-kind project will boost connectivity, reduce travel time and support growth in Gujarat. It will also strengthen Dholera’s rise as a major centre of opportunity, enterprise and future-ready infrastructure,” he said.

Modi said the scheme to promote surface coal/lignite gasification projects, which was cleared by the Cabinet, will further energy security, boost investment and create job opportunities.

“It will add strength to our efforts to strengthen the tech and innovation system as well,” he said. (PTI)
