LEH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated to the nation 220 KV Srinagar-Leh transmission system, a step that would ensure quality power supply to Ladakh round the year. Earlier, Mr Modi, who arrived here from New Delhi in the morning on the first leg of day-long tour to Jammu and Kashmir, was received at the airport by Governor Satya Pal Malik, his advisors, Chief Secretary and top Army and civil officers at the airport, where the minimum temperature was about minus 19 degree.
A large number of people in traditional Ladakh dress greeted Mr Modi outside the airport, despite chilly weather. Mr Modi dedicated the 220 kV Srinagar-Alusteng-Drass-Kargil-Leh Transmission System, a step that would ensure quality power supply to Ladakh round the year. He said this would give huge boost to the tourism sector and enhance socio-economic development of Ladakh. (AGENCIES)
