UDHAMPUR, Feb 19: The monthly meeting of the district Udhampur unit of All J& K Plus 2 Lecturers’ Forum was held here today under the chairmanship of Ashok Sharma, district president of the Forum.
In the meeting, the speakers hoped that the new Education Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari will take steps for streamlining the system of education in J&K State and try his best to redress the long pending demands of all the employees of the department, especially the Plus 2 Cadre. They also expressed concern over the timings of trainings of Officers/officials of various cadres and said that on the one hand, the Government wants the officers/teachers to show good results and on the other hand, they are deputed as resource persons/trainees for varying periods of time at the peak of the session even when the date sheet of various exams right from 5th to 12th excluding 11th class has been published by JKBOSE and SIE and when students need their teachers the most in the classrooms to clear their doubts for preparation for their final exams.
They demanded that the Government should publish the Academics Calendar, Activity Calendar, Examinations Calendar, Vacations Calendar, Trainings schedule etc. at the beginning of the academic session and training of all the teaching staff be invariably conducted in summer/winter vacations and Resource Persons must be appointed from DIETs/SIEs and teaching staff of schools be spared exclusively for carrying out teaching learning activities in the schools. They also demanded that practical examination of 12th and 10th class be conducted after the culmination of theory exams as conduct of practical exams before the theory exams diverts the attention of the examinees and affects their performance in the theory exams. They also demanded the appointment of Co -Inspectors and enhancement in the evaluation/supervison charges at par with the rates prevalent in JU and demanded that orders in this respect be published soon.
Prominent among those, who spoke on the occasion, included Rashpal Singh, Joginder Gupta, Shiv Lal, Ashwani Kumar, Luxmi Kant, Ravi Kanchan and Amrit Lal.
