JAMMU, Mar 21: Continuing with its sensitization program “Wakeup Jammu” under the overall supervision of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Jammu, Ajeet K. Sahu under the 2nd phase of voter awareness campaign, under SVEEP, mass pledge taking ceremonies were held at all the Assembly Constituencies of Jammu district at their respective election training venues.
The employees were imparted training in handling and operation of EVM and other election related issues, observing Model Code of Conduct, etc. The employees were administered pledge by the respective AROs about exercising their Right to Vote. The pledges were also circulated through Educational Institutions, Government Departments, Banks, Police Department, Anganwari Centers, Ration Dealers, LPG Dealers, Station Directors of AIR and Doordarshan to general public in the district enjoining upon the electorate to exercise their Right to Vote.
In order to ensure that 2nd phase of Voter Awareness Campaign achieves its objective, a meeting was also convened by K.K. Sidha, Assistant Commissioner Development, Jammu (Nodal Officer), SVEEP/Training Election-2014, wherein Deputy Director, CAPD Jammu, Joint Municipal Commissioner, Jammu, PO, ICDS Jammu, DHO Jammu, DSWO Jammu, BDO Bhalwal & BDO Marh participated.
It was decided in the meeting that the field functionaries of the respective departments along with the concerned BLOs of the Polling Stations who had experienced low voter turnout during the last Lok Sabha Election-2009 will actively participate in Polling Booth Area Campaign (PBAC) and door to door campaign in a targeted manner to improve the voting percentage.
