Sir,
As has been already known to many that the Panchayat elections are scheduled from 15th February and the official notification is due within few days.
At the same time PSC is also considering to conduct KAS MAINS from 15th February. Many of the Government employees appearing for this exam will be deployed for election duty. Moreover many of them have already started their training in their respective districts. Because of this perplexing situation they are not able to give time to their studies. When they approached their respective Electoral officers, their demand to exempt them from election duty was not entertained.
Also there are high chances of KAS MAINS clash with UPSC IAS interviews which are going to start from 19th February. It will be impossible for students from our State who have qualified both UPSC MAINS and KAS Prelims to sit for both exams simultaneously.
All these factors along with absence of level playing field for all aspirants is a matter of concern, which PSC should clarify in public domain.
It has also been reported that PSC members have themselves pointed towards infeasability of conducting MAINS exam from 15th February, citing valid reasons of Panchayat elections and the deployment of almost 3000 Government employees for the same who are also going to sit for the exam.
Yours etc….
