JAMMU, July 8: Under the guidance of Divisional Forest Officer, Ashwani Kumar, a plantation drive was started here today in Roop Nagar Sector-4.
The drive began at 11 am and saw scores of college students participating in it by planting saplings and the students adopted their trees, pledging to care for these in the years ahead.
QR codes were also issued for each plant, allowing the participants to track the growth and health of their trees digitally.
The event was graced by the dignitaries including Dr. Jagdish Thappa, Ashwani Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer, Munish, senior BJP leader and Uttam Sharma, president, Roop Nagar Association along with number of residents of Roop Nagar.
Ashwani Kumar emphasized the importance of community-led green initiatives in combating climate change and enhancing urban ecosystems.
Dr. Jagdish Thappa lauded the youth for their enthusiastic participation, highlighting the significance of their long-term commitment to environmental stewardship.
The plantation drive was supported by the Paloura Block (TT Range).
