JAMMU, Mar 1: Expressing concern over China gaining foothold in Pak occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) including the territories of Gilgit and Baltistan, Panun Kashmir today said the recent handing over the control of the important Gawadhar Port in Baltistan to China is a threat to peace in Sub Continent.
The coming together of the two hostile powers in these strategic areas is a serious threat to the security of Kashmir, PK president Ashwani Kumar along with PK spokesperson Virender Raina told reporters here today.
This will also pose a serious threat to maritime interests of India from the gulf of Hormuz to the straits of Malacca. These well planned tactics are ostensibly meant to corner India and pressurize it to hold talks on Kashmir, he added.
Mr Chrungoo said it is time that Government of India sees through the designs of Pakistan and makes its stand clear on its claims over the entire PoJK. The instrument of terror which has been used by the Pakistan over the last three decades, to make India to submit to the blackmail is required to be negated at all levels, he added.
He said GOI should make it clear that as long as Pakistan pursues terrorism as an instrument of its State policy, no talks are possible as talks and terrorism can’t go together.
Terming relief and economic rehabilitation of displaced Pandits as prime responsibility of the State and Central Governments, Virender Raina accused the Government of driving the relief holders to destitution due to its callousness. This attitude has forced them to agitate again regarding enhancement of relief, he added.
He said the decision to increase the relief nominally has given a feeling to the displaced population that Government is non-serious regarding the issues of the community.
He said it has been two decades for the PM’s employment package to see the light of the day and that too with inhuman conditions driving the community youth to leave the State.
He said the KPs have equally right over the resources in the State but they have been successfully ignored in the matters of employment and proper economic rehabilitation.
