JAMMU, July 27: Two delegations of Kashmiri Pandits called on advisor to Governor B B Viyas here today.
A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits led by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president, Panun Kashmir (PK) met B B Vyas and held a meeting with him. The delegation also presented a memorandum to the Advisor detailing certain important issues of concern of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community. M.L.Raina, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner also participated in the meeting. Virender Raina, Chairman-Political Affairs Committee and Kamal Bagati, general secretary (Org.) were the other members of the delegation of P K.
The memorandum submitted to Advisor said Kashmiri Pandit community has entered 29th year of its exile this year after having suffered persecution, genocide and ethnic cleansing resulting in its mass exodus from Kashmir in 1989-90.
While highlighting the historical Margdarshan resolution of 1991 regarding, return and resettlement of the displaced community in Kashmir which was unanimously adopted by the community, the resolution inter alia articulated and proclaimed the geo-political aspirations of the Hindus of Kashmir and envisaged a free and full flow of the Indian Constitution in the territory in Kashmir by carving out a Homeland within Valley for them.
The memorandum while stressing on economic rehabilitation and administrative issues demanded that all posts earmarked may be mingled together and the process for whole of the package may be completed expeditiously and without any impediments.
It further, while demanding one time compensation for over-aged youth of the community stressed on granting a special package for them, besides fool proof security for the PM package employees appointed in 2010 and onwards, grant of leave encashment to displaced employees, release of balance ex-gratia for burnt and damaged houses and other properties, passage of Shrines and Temples Bill.
Another delegation was led by Desh Rattan Pandita of All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) showed concern over the callousness of the successive governments towards the community.
It while, highlighting the problems of the displaced Pandits of Jagti township said that they face acute scarcity of drinking water due to failure of present water supply scheme. The delegation demanded construction of new and viable water supply scheme for the township so that the camp inmates don’t face water crisis in future. Bal Ji, Roop Krishan and Chandra Dhar participated in the delegation.
