JAMMU, Jan 24: Panun Kashmir (PK) organised a meeting of its Core Committee in Delhi NCR today which was presided over by Virender Raina, its president,.
The meeting discussed some important issues concerning the socio-political scenario in J&K with particular reference to the situation in which the displaced Kashmiri Pandits were living as well as the recent statements made by certain leaders of the political parties especially by the Kashmir centric political and religious leaders.
Virender Raina in his remarks while commenting on the statements of NC, PDP and erstwhile Hurriyat leaders about the Kashmiri Pandits said KPs recogniose Farooq Abdullah as one of the founders of the erstwhile JKLF.
Kashmir has been the homeland of KPs its aborigines for the last thousands of years. The statement issued by Farooq Abdullah about the return of the Pandits is highly condemnable as it was his Government that was responsible for the acute human rights violations and genocide of the community in the Valley.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP leader in his remarks said that the original question of the resettlement of the KPs in the Valley remains as valid today as it was earlier. There is no doubt that the Government of India implemented a large portion of the operative part of the historic Margdarshan resolution on 5th August 2019.
“We appeal to the Government of India to initiate a formal dialogue with the community at an earliest to take decisions that will shape the future course of history in Kashmir for good”.
Upinder Kaul maintained that the Kashmiri Pandit community was committed to the homeland demand and it has been reiterated by every community forum all these three decades in one or the other form.
Kamal Bagati expressed the view that the past chairman of the Hurriyat, Omer Farooq had no locus standi to view Kashmiri Pandit community’s return and resettlement issue from his sectarian prism. It was fundamentalist ideology sponsored by his party that invited terrorism in Kashmir from Pakistan, he added.
