SRINAGAR : Heavy rains disrupted Amarnath yatra from Baltal and Nunwan base camps today.
A yatra official said about 3,000 yatris left the Baltal base camp for the holy cave in south Kashmir Himalayas early this morning. However, the yatra was stopped due to heavy rains from 0800 hrs.
The yatris, who had left the base camp and those returning from holy cave after having darshan of self-made ice-shivilngam yesterday were also stopped at different places on the track due to slippery conditions.
He said the yatra remained suspended on traditional Pahalgam route for the same reason. However, with the improvement in the weather, yatris have started moving from Nunwan base camp and other halting stations to the cave shrine. (AGENCIES)
