Philanthropists, MPs should play role in fight against COVID-19: Yaseen

SRINAGAR, Mar 23: Appreciating the measures being taken by the Government to contain spread of deadly Covid-19 pandemic, especially extension of clampdown till March 31, chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has urged the people to strictly follow health guidelines to nip the evil in the bud. He has also called upon the philanthropists to come forward to assist the poor and needy in these testing times whose livelihood and economy was getting severely hit due to the unavoidable situation.
In a statement, Hakeem Yaseen has said that though the Government and the people of the state are responding well to the crisis arising out of the outbreak of COVID-19 but more care and precautions are required to be taken to unitedly fight against the dragon pandemic which has endangered the human existence across the globe. He said while the administration alongwith the medical fraternity was doing commendable job but the Government and philanthropists should also initiate welfare measures for the poor and needy families whose livelihood is getting hit due to prolonged clampdowns. He said Govt should provide free ration and essential commodities to the people living below the poverty line including the people whose daily livelihood has been badly affected due to unavoidable clampdown against spread of Coronavirus.
Yaseen has also asked the Members of the Parliament from J&K to put their MPLADF at the disposal of the Government for its proportionate distribution in each area of the state. “There should be no pick and choose yardstick to provide relief to the needy people affected by the outbreak of pandemic ,” Yaseen observed.
He asked party workers to act as volunteers in their local areas to provide required help to the needy people and also assist the medical teams deployed on duty to fight COVID-19 .
