KATHUA, May 16: The PHE daily wagers took out protest march in support of their genuine demand under the banner of All J&K PHE Daily Wager, CP Workers and ITI Trained Employees Association. The protesters led by its president Narayan Singh assembled in front of Office of the PHE Executive Engineer, Kathua and took out funeral procession of Chief Engineer PHE to DC Office Kathua.
They were raising the slogans in favour of their demands while carrying the funeral procession and shouting slogans against the Government . They also burnt the effigy of Chief Engineer in front of DC Office Kathua and lodged strong protest against the delaying tactics of Government in settling the regularization issue.
While addressing Narayan Singh criticized the State Government for paying a deaf ear towards grievances of PHE daily wagers for which they are fighting since last five year continuously. He said that more than 23000 PHE workers are fighting since last 25 years but their pleas are not heard by the deaf ears of officers at the helm of affairs. “Our families and children are at the verge of starvation and we are living from hand to mouth due to the callousness of Government”, he added.
He alleged that it is the matter of Jammu people who face the total neglect from the hands of authorities. If the issue would have been of Kashmir people it would have been solved since. The leadership of Jammu has totally failed to solve our issues as “our leaders are cheap, money minded and powerless”. “They are befooling the innocent people of Jammu on the name of vote bank for their vested political interests. Otherwise we are fighting since last five years for wages and they are sleeping over the issue”, he added.
They demanded immediate release of five years pending salary, regular wages on monthly basis and permanent status for them.
They warned the Government to release their pending wages otherwise they will force to take extreme step.
