JAMMU, June 29: PHE workers held strong protest demonstration and dharna at the PHE complex on BC Road here today.
A large number of PHE workers from various PHE Divisions, under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association assembled outside the office of Chief Engineer at BC Road office complex and started protest demonstration. They were raising slogans in support of their demands.
Provincial president of the Association, Bakshi Singh and general secretary, Subash Verma were leading. They addressed the gathering and criticized the higher authorities for not addressing the pending demands of the employees. They alleged that State Government has miserably failed to solve the genuine and justified demands of the PHE workers.
They strongly demanded that all sort of employees/ workers who have completed 5 years in service be regularised without any delay, the employees be provided salary in time and all the pending wages/ arrears be cleared without any delay. They claimed that Government has been forcing the employees to adopt agitational path. Many representations have been given to the senior officers but they are seems to be non-serious about the issues of the workers.
Subash Verma criticized the PHE Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary for his casual approach towards the employees’ issues. He alleged that minister has no time to listen to the demands and problems of the workers. He said the Association has decided to give 30 days ultimatum to the higher authorities failing which the employees would launch massive agitation.
Prominent among others who addressed gathering included Surjeet Singh, Manzoor Ali,Chuni Lal, Babu Singh, Swarn Singh, Rachhpal Singh, Altaf Hussain and Ram Lubhaya.
