PHE workers stage protest demonstration

JAMMU, June 2: A large number of PHE employees, including daily rated and CP workers staged protest demonstration at PHE complex BC Road here today.
PHE workers under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association and the leadership of Shiv Kumar Sharma, State president of INTUC and provincial president of the Association, assembled at PHE complex BC Road in the morning and started protest demonstration, followed by dharna. The agitating employees were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
Addressing employees Shiv Kumar expressed concern  and dismay over the apathetic attitude of  the concerned PHE authorities. He said that despite repeated pleas and reminders, the authorities have shown a lukewarm response to the genuine demands of the employees and workers of the department. Mr Sharma applauded the devotion of  the PHE daily wagers who are working hard in the department without having been paid their wages for many months. They are braving inflation which is at peak. He strongly demanded release of  their pending wages and regularization of their services.
Mr Sharma demanded streamlining of  the promotional policy  for the employees  by maintaining seniority list. He alleged that for the last many years, DPC has not been conducted by many divisions. The main problems / demands projected included regularization, conversion of CP workers as daily wagers, release of pending wages, conduct of DPC, release of 10 % DA,  enhancement of minimum wages limit, providing I-Cards to field staff, issuance of tools/ articles  and maintaining service books of the employees.
Vinod Kumar, Raman Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Madan Lal, Radhey Sham, Mangal Dass and others also endorsed INTUC leaders’ views.
