JAMMU, Mar 3: Continuing their chain hunger strike for the 28 consecutive days, PHE workers and employees held a massive protest rally in the PHE Complex, B C Road, here today.
During the rally, which was organized under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association, the protesters raised slogans against the Government and the concerned authorities.
The rally was addressed by several leaders, who threatened to go on Kaam Chhor Hartal if their demands are not conceded by April 7.
They also highlighted the Association demands, such as regularization of workers after five years of service, release of all pending wages of workers, disbursement of wages to all sorts of PHE workers before 5th of every month regularly, framing of new concrete recruitment policy for PHE Department, holding of DPC meeting at all levels and creation of higher scale posts or rationalization of pay scales of field and operational staff to remove the stagnation.
President of the Association, Bakshi Singh, accused the State Government of being dictatorial, arrogant and cruel towards workers who have been protesting for the last 28 days highlighting their genuine demands.
He also appealed the PHE employees to remain united for taking the ongoing struggle to a logical conclusion.
Subash Verma alleged that daily wagers of Kashmir province were getting regular wagers while their counterparts in Jammu were paid partially.
Among those, who addressed, included Rattan Doshi, Manzoor Ali, Ashok Kumar, Baldev Singh, Tilak Raj, Babu Singh, Vijay Singh, Surinder Kumar, Lal Chand, Chuni Lal, Bansi Lal and others.
