JAMMU, Feb 9: The ongoing chain hunger strike by PHE employees and workers in support of their demands, entered into 6th day today.
The hunger strike is being observed under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association. The protesters are demanding regularization after five years of service, clearance of 22 months backlog wages of workers, disbursement of wages before 5th of every month, framing of a recruitment policy for PHE Department, holding of DPC meeting and creation of higher scale posts of all cadres to remove stagnation.
Those who sat on the hunger strike today, included Madan Lal, Mohinder Kumar, Om Parkash, Anil Verma, Bishan Dass and Gopal Singh.
While addressing the gathering, the Association provincial president Bakshi Singh criticized the rigid and unfair attitude of the concerned authorities for not doing justice with the employees.
Others who addressed, included Anil Verma, Bhanu Sharma, Prithvi Singh, Kaka Ram, Ajit Singh, Ram Parkash, Manzoor Ali, Vijay Singh and Chuni Lal.
