PHE worker commits suicide in temple

UDHAMPUR, July 23: A PHE daily wager (turn-cock) committed suicide by hanging in a temple at Ghordi village in Ramnagar area of  district Udhampur last night.
The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Romesh Kumar, son of Sarnu Ram Sharma of Jandroor near Ghordi. Some people noticed him hanging from the ceiling hook of  the Veranda in the temple complex. They informed police. Many villagers including family members also rushed there. The police took the body and later removed to Primary Health Centre Ghordi for postmortem.
A police spokesman said that Romesh was under tremendous depression as informed by his family members. He was working as daily rated worker for the last several years and living from hand to mouth. He also remained under treatment due to mental sickness. A note was also recovered from his pocket in which it had been written in Hind, `Mujhe Mata Ne Yahan Bulaya Tha’ (Goddess had called me here in the temple). After postmortem and performing all the legal formalities, the police handed over the body to the family for last rites. The police registered a case under Section 174 CrPC and initiated inquest proceedings.
