JAMMU, Apr 1: The election authorities today seized large number of PHE pipes at three villages in Akhnoor and asked the concerned officials to stall the fresh work till the election in the constituency is over.
Acting on the basis of a complaint lodged by local BJP leaders, the election authorities took action and asked SDM Akhnoor, Girish Dayalan to initiate action in this regard. Accordingly, the authorities moved to villages Kathar, Dasanu and Bharda and seized the pipes dumped there for executing water supply scheme. They also asked the concerned staff to hold on work till the elections are over.
The BJP had alleged that in clear violation of Model Code of Conduct, the PHE authorities were initiating work at these villages to influence voters, on the behest of local Congress Minister.
