SRINAGAR, June 11: Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at Raj Bhavan today.
Mr. Sharma briefed the Governor about measures being taken by PHE Department to augment supply of safe drinking water in all the three regions of the State, to meet the existing and arising demands.
He also apprised the Governor about the status of various projects being undertaken by the Flood and Irrigation Department to increase the net irrigated area in the State by adopting newer technologies like rain water harvesting etc. The Minister also discussed with the Governor, issues pertaining to future growth and development of the State.
Prof. Mohan Pal Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University also called on Governor and briefed him about the preparedness of the University for the ensuing Academic Session-2014 and about the progress made in implementing the Semester System in the constituent colleges of the University.
The Governor also discussed with the Vice-Chancellor certain academic and administrative issues concerning the University’s functioning.
