PHE employees urge Govt to provide justice to Jammu province workers

UDHAMPUR, Oct 4: Som Nath, senior vice president of PHE Employees Association, Jammu province, while addressing an executive meeting of Association for Udhampur and Reasi districts here strongly criticized the Government and concerned Minister towards the department employees and workers, who are doing double shift duties in a single day, thereby compelling them to come on roads to get their demands conceded.
Mr Nath said at least the Government should release their wages timely and formulate a policy immediately for their regularization.
A deputation of the Association met Executive Engineer PHE Division Udhampur projecting local demands like repair and maintenance of duty rooms, release of wages of imprest and estimate workers and the workers engages in lieu of land donation to the department as at present the position of the workers was worst.
Mr Nath appealed the leaders of different associations of PHE Department to form a united front so that the long pending genuine demands could be got fulfilled with the joint efforts.
Other demands voiced in the meeting included Release of wages; Implementation of Minimum Wages Act; Immediate regularization of workers; Putting an end to discrimination with workers of Jammu province; meeting shortage of staff to effectively man the on-going water supply schemes; Change of designation as per nature of job being performed by the workers; Payment to those engaged in lieu of land donation; and Enhancement in daily wage rate from Rs 350 to Rs 400.
Others who spoke included Vijay Kumar, Baldev Raj, Rattan Singh, Makhan Chand, Jagdish Magotra, Krishan Chand, Shiv Lal, Shamsher Singh, Ved Kumar, Sham Lal, Dara Singh, Dinesh Kesar, Raj Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Shambu Dutt, Karan Singh, Kuldeep Kumar etc.
