JAMMU, Aug 20: A meeting of Jammu provincial and Divisional office bearers of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association was held here under the chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma, State president INTUC and provincial president, wherein all long pending genuine demands were discussed and a deputation of the association also met the Chief Engineer and submitted a charter of demands.
The demands projected in the meeting pertained to: Conversion of CP workers as daily wagers who have been engaged upto March 2013, because the Government has only cleared the cases upto November 2005 and the rest were pending clearance.
The meeting strongly demanded payment of wages to daily wagers, CP workers etc which have not been paid for the past 6 to 24 months. The speakers also said that move of the Government regarding direct recruitment to Class IV posts would discourage the morale of already engaged daily wagers and CP workers who given more than 20 years services to the PHE Department with a hope of getting regularized.
The association has also demanded rationale transparent transfer policy as promised by the concerned Minister but withheld by some senior officers for obvious reasons. They also called for preparing afresh the seniority list of field and ministerial staff as also conduct of DPC meetings at provincial and divisional level.
Provision of Identity Cards to all field staff and CP workers, maintenance of service books and time bound promotions also formed their other demands.
Abolition of post of Helper and creation of additional staff to man new water supply schemes were also demanded by the association.
Provincial office bearers who participated in the meeting included Vinod Kumar, Raman Kumar, Som Nath, Ajay Sharma and Madan Lal, while divisional presidents who participated in the meeting were Radha Shyam, Mangal Dass, Joginder Paul, Chain Singh, Ram Paul, Vijay Gupta, Surinder Singh Faiz Akhter Chowhan, Tahier Shawl, Sham Lal, Gulam Nabi, Munshi Ram, Mohd Hamid, Anchal Singh, Hans Raj, Madan Lal, Abdul Rehman, Liyaqat Ali etc.
