JAMMU, Sept 13: A woman employee of PHE Department of the State was killed today after being hit by a bus here at KC Chowk on BC Road.
“A SRTC bus bearing registration number JK02Y-0263 being rashly driven by a man identified as Gurmeet Singh son of Punjab Singh, resident of Rajpura, Kathua, today at about 9.30 am hit a woman namely Neelam Lata Bhat wife of Kamal Ji Bhat, resident of Roop Nagar near KC Chowk on BC Road, Jammu”, a police official said.
He said due to excessive bleeding, the woman was killed on the spot. “She was an employee of State PHE Department and the mishap took place just few meters away from her office, where she was going”, he informed.
The official said that after conducting postmortem at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while a case FIR NO 76/2017 under Sections 304A and 279 RPC was registered at police station Bus Stand and the vehicle involved in the mishap was seized and its driver arrested.
