MENDHAR/SUNDERBANI, May 13: The PHE daily rated, ITI trained and CP workers today held strong protest demonstration at Mendhar town and block road for about one and half hour while similar protest was held by PHE workers at Sunderbani town of Rajouri .
Reports said that a large number of PHE workers from Mendhar Sub Division today assembled near Dak Bangalow and then held strong protest demonstration under the leadership of trade unionist Abdul Hamid Khan. They were shouting slogans against PHE Minister, Sham Choudhary, Dy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Chief Engineer PHE, Jammu.
The workers also blocked Mendhar -Jammu road at main Chowk Mendhar and stalled the movement of vehicles from 11 am to 12.30 pm. Later, SHO Mendhar Anzir Mir reached there and he pacified the agitating workers. They were demanding their regularization and release of pending wages of over 30 months of the workers. Later, they moved to the office of SDM Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh and submitted a memorandum to him.
Similar protest was held by the PHE daily wagers and CP workers at Sunderbani town. The agitating PHE workers who are on strike for the last two months also blocked Jammu-Poonch highway for some time. They criticised the PHE authorities for not addressing their issues.
