JAMMU, Jan 15: The daily rated, ITI trained and Community Participation (CP) workers of PHE department today held a strong protest demonstration outside Chief Engineer’s office at B C Road here today.
A large number of workers of the department under the banner of All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers Association (Jammu province), led by Tanveer Hussain assembled at B C Road PHE complex in the morning and started protest demonstration. It was followed by day long protest dharna. The workers from various Divisions and Sub Divisions participated in the protest dharna.
The protest was held against the Government for its failure to resolve their pending issues which included regularization, non- release of the wages of workers for many months, non-clearance of pending land cases and wages of CP workers and need base workers. They were shouting slogans against senior officers of the department.
While addressing workers Tanveer Hussain alleged that despite repeated representations, protests and dharnas, the higher authorities in the department have failed to fulfill the demands of the workers. The workers are being forced by the Government to intensify their agitation.
He warned the Government to intensify their struggle in the entire State if the Government failed to address their pending issues the workers would go for Kam Chhorh Hartal.
Prominent among those present/ spoke on the occasion included Deepak Gupta, Subash Chander, Jeevan Singh, Manjeet Singh, Keldeep Kumar, Sajjad Ahmed, Tilak Raj and Manmohan Singh.
