JAMMU, Jan 15: The strong contingent of 40 young fencers (boys and girls) today left for participation in the 17th Sub-junior and 12th Cadet National Championships to be held at Nanded in Maharashtra from January 19 to January 22.
Earlier, these young fencers attended a fortnight long coaching camp which was organised by J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) under the guidance of fencing coach, Rachna Jamwal.
The selected team also underwent screening by JKSSC Joint Secretary, Shiv Kumar Sharma and members, Rashid Ahmed and Krupali Singh.
The Teams:
CADET: Boys: Tariq Hussain, Dhruva Gupta, Saksham Gupta (Foil), Rajan Prashar, Manish Pangotra, Mayank Kapoor (Epee), Karun Bakshi, Rudra Partap Singh, Nikhil Atri, Siddhant Raina (Sabre). Girls: Riya Bakshi, Simran Anand, Mansi Sapolia (Foil), Sindhya Sharma, Arushi Sharma, Sakshi Verma (Epee), Jaspreet Kour, Sonali Choudhary, Keefeeka Kafi and Shilpa Lalotra (Sabre).
SUB-JUNIOR: Boys: Tanish Mahajan, Aryan Manhotra, Rahul Prashar, Aryan Chandel (Foil), Sahiban Singh, Pragun Pratap Singh, Ajayu Kumar, Raja Mohd Asif (Epee), Mayank Sharma, Amit Chib, Harsh Chand, Mridhul Marwaha (Sabre). Girls: Malvi Arora, Ashu Rani, Rifat Parveen, Pallvi Thakur (Foil), Vanshika Bandral, Poonam Thakur, Raghi Verma, Bhumi Heer (Epee), Kritarthi Kotwal, Shreya Gupta, Shahida Akhter and Mumtaz Akhter (Sabre).
