The workers were raising slogans against the J&K Government and the Commissioner JMC. They were opposing the order issued by the JMC Commissioner, to upload their details on a Mobile phone App for an attendance purpose. They alleged that if the JMC or the concerned PHE officers want attendance of the field staff, they must install attendance machines at Water/Pumping stations/ offices etc..
While talking to media persons at the protest site, Ravi Hans alleged that on earlier occasion also, the Government had tried to play foul with the daily wagers by registering them with the private NGO. Their designs were exposed.
Now again, they have tried to play smart. He alleged that recently JMC Commissioner issued an order asking all the daily rated workers of four PHE divisions under JMC to register themselves/their details on a mobile phone App for the purpose of attendance. It was also asked that salary of the employees who failed to register themselves will not be released. Hans further said that Central agencies are advising general public not to share details with the unknown Apps and the J&K officers are forcing hapless workers to share details on Applications.
The United Front leaders warned the Government to withdraw such controversial order otherwise, employees of all the four Divisions of Jammu Urban will be forced to launch indefinite strike.
