PHE daily wagers, CP workers stage protest demonstration

JAMMU, Aug 6:  PHE daily wagers today held strong protest demonstration and took out a rally in winter capital city here.
A large number of  PHE workers including ITI trained and CP workers, besides those who have donated lands for PHE stations, water tanks etc, under the leadership of Tanveer Hussain, president of the Association, assembled near Press Club here in the morning and then started protest march towards the office of Chief Engineer PHE, BC Road near KC Crossing.
They were shouting slogans in support of their  demands of regularization and release of pending wages of the workers, expediting process of regularization under SRO which is needed to be issued with out any delay. Tanveer alleged that there was great  resentment among the  workers for causing delay in their regularization. Many workers were carrying banners and placards in their hands projecting their demands.

When they reached the office of Chief Engineer at BC Road PHE complex, they staged strong protest demonstration followed by dharna for several hours in the complex.  Several trade union leaders also addressed the gathering and criticized the higher authorities in the Administration for causing delay in releasing their wages  and also in regularization.
They said that since long the Government started the process of regularisation under SRO 520 but its implementation is no where in sight. The workers are anxiously waiting for their regularization. Many of them have turned over aged while others have 2-3 children. Many of them have not been paid their wages and are facing starvation. The senior officers are least bothered about their plight.
Deepak Gupta, vice president and senior trade unionists- Subhash Chander,  Bhanu Partap, Sanjeev Thakur, Sohan Choudhary, Manjeet Singh, Jeevan Singh and others also spoke on the occasion and condemned the attitude of the authorities in the PHE for ignoring their genuine issues. They warned to intensify their agitation.
