PHDCCI organises video conference on Railways Parcel Trains

JAMMU, Apr 19: Jammu Region Chapter of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organised an interactive video conference with Chetan Taneja, Senior Divisional Traffic Manager, Jammu-Pathankot Range on Railways Parcel Trains, for timely delivery of goods during COVID-19 crisis and to understand the challenges and way forward.
Vivek Sharma Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Firozpur Division), Trilok Singh Divisional Commercial Manager (Firozpur Division), Director PHDCCI New Delhi Malika Verma, Chairman Jammu Region Chapter of PHDCCI Rakesh Wazir, Immediate Former Chairman Vikrant Kuthiala, Co-Chairman Rahul Sahai, Chairman Hotel Association Katra Shyam Lal Kesar, President Bari Brahmana Industrial Association Lalit Mahajan, Rajesh Gupta from Ware House Industry Jammu, Jatinder Aggarwal from Kanak Mandi, Anil Gupta from Pharmaceutical Association of Jammu, Convenor (Head) PHDCCI Patnitop Kushal Magotra, members Bilal Ahmad Kawoosa, Sidhant Choudhary, Sanjay Gupta, Provik Gupta, PHDCCI Executives Iqbal Fayaz Jan, Aditya Vaid and expert from Industry were present and discussed in detail the Parcel Train Service model started by the Railways recently.
Addressing the session, Taneja urged that the Jammu and Kashmir Industry and Traders should avail this parcel train service for the quick movement during the lockdown period. The movement of parcel train is typically from point to point and the parcel bogies for the destination can be loaded in a train.
He further stated that the schedule and live status of Parcel Trains running from Jammu to Delhi and all over country is available on National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and these trains will have transit at Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ambala, Panipat and New Delhi.
The webinar interaction session was formally welcomed by Chairman Jammu Chapter PHDCCI Rakesh Wazir. In his address, he said that Indian Railway is playing a vital role by resuming the Parcel Van Service to ensure uninterrupted flow of essential commodities to local markets.
Kuthiala impressed upon the Zonal level Railway officers that this Parcel Train Service should be continued post COVID-19 and with seamless connectivity from Udhampur to Banihal which will play a vital role in curbing the pollution level in the environment of J&K and will have purposeful utilization.
Sahai while speaking on the occasion said that delivery of the goods in industrial area of Jammu should be at Bari Brahmana, Samba and Udhampur Railway stations so that communication to Jammu for receiving and booking commodities in lockdown period is avoided.
Lalit Mahajan, Shyam Lal Kesar and Anil Gupta also expressed their views.
After that all the stakeholders, members and Industrial representatives participated and discussed their issues, challenges in this service like delivery of goods near industrial areas of Jammu i.e. Bari Brahmna, Udhampur and starting of Udhampur Banihal Baramulla Sector with door to door delivery.
In the end, Malika Verma Director J&K PHDCCI New Delhi presented vote of thanks.
