NEW DELHI: Petrol and diesel prices touched a new high on Saturday across the four major metros after oil marketing companies enhanced the rates for seventh consecutive day.
With 16 paise hike, petrol was selling in Delhi at a price of Rs 78.68 per litre, Rs 86.09 per litre in Mumbai, Rs 81.60 per litre in Kolkata and Rs 81.75 per litre in Chennai.
According to data from IOC app, with the increase of 21 paise, diesel was being sold in Delhi at Rs 70.42 per litre, Rs 74.76 per litre in Mumbai, Rs 73.27 per litre in Kolkata and Rs 74.41 per litre in Chennai. The revised rates are applicable from 0600 hrs on September 1.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan claimed that rise in crude oil price in the international market and devaluation of the Indian rupee against the US Dollar are two factors responsible for hike in fuel prices in the country. (AGENCIES)
