NAGROTA, Nov 17: Reiterating that development of Nagrota will be his only mission for next six years, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said the people want deliverance, not promises.
“Our efforts during the past few years to put Nagrota on fast track development stand testimony to the vision of transforming the constituency into Nava Jammu”, Mr Rana said while addressing workers at Dansal, Sarmal, Baggain, Chadali and Badsoo areas of Nagrota.
He said Nava Jammu has become a buzz word in every household of Nagrota with people enthusiastically waiting for the dream taking practical shape. This is achievable, he said, adding that much could have been done in the past for progress and development of this area but that seemed to be last priority for those representing it. He said the bygone years have only seen elected representatives indulging in just rhetoric rather than doing anything tangible on ground. This mindset is needed to be reversed by focusing on perspective planning and phased development.
Mr Rana, contesting from the constituency as National Conference candidate, complimented the people especially youth in strengthening his resolve by extending whole hog support irrespective of their political leanings. “This is because they are convinced about things to move towards right direction given our sincere efforts made for development of the area in recent years”, he said.
He made a passionate appeal to the people to support National Conference in the ensuing elections, saying these are going to be a defining moment for Jammu and Kashmir which is confronted by numerous challenges. “These can be met only when the state gets a strong and forward looking government, which will ensure equitable development of all the regions and sub-regions besides providing equal opportunities of progress to all”, he added.
“Omar led Government during the past six years has proved beyond any doubt that if there is will, every difficulty can be surmounted with fortitude”, he said, while referring to the difficult situation the state was in when Omar Abdullah took over the reins of administration. He said after heralding pace in the wake of turbulent situation, stage was set for holistic development. “The coming years witnessed wheels of the administration moving towards realizing the agenda of development”, he added.
The Provincial President expressed optimism about the progressive policies of National Conference getting overwhelming acknowledgement on the days of polls. He urged the people to come forward in a big way and press their choice for peace and development, which is corner stone of the National Conference philosophy.
