Perishable horticulture and agricultural produce

Launching of air- cargo service from Jammu and Srinagar airports to top domestic and international markets for transportation of perishable horticulture and agriculture produce is a decision, unique in its form, in that not only shall such commodities reach top markets but fetch a reasonable return too even by selling at Rs. 96 per kilo. The scheme known as “PARWAZ” or flight having been launched by Horticulture Department is to help fruit growers and farmers by not letting their fragile produce perish for want of proper but timely marketing. Over it, markets like Dubai, Sharjah etc for such produce was going to develop and promote taste for such perishables to ensure future assured demand and thus marketability.
The scheme was not only designed to be confined to Horticulture Department only but could be adopted by Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments progressively for milk based perishable items and world famous trout fish. However, funds availability was a big condition. Rates have already been fixed and the scheme of PARWAZ carries 25 percent subsidy on Air Cargo charges inclusive of handling charges at the Airports.
