Performance of banks reviewed at DLRC meet

SAMBA, Aug 5: A meeting of bankers and district officers was held to review the progress and performance of bankers in key areas relating to deposits and advances and priority sector lending for the quarter ending June 2015.
District Development Commissioner, Samba, Sheetal Nanda, while chairing the meeting had a detailed review of progress achieved in sponsoring the cases by various departments like DRDA, KVIB, KVIC, DIC, Employment, SC/ST/OBC Corporation, Agriculture, Animal/Sheep Husbandry etc. under various schemes like KCC, NULM, JKSES, PMEGP etc.
The deposit and advances of banks as on ending June 2015 stood at Rs 247163 lakh and Rs 130079 lakh respectively thus achieving a CD ratio of 52.62%. Further, district has achieved 33% of the total Annual credit Plan up to quarter ending June for the year 2015-16.
The meeting was informed that against the bench mark of 40% under priority sector advances, the banks have comfortably achieved 49.98% during the quarter. The achievement under advances to weaker sections of the society was 17.52% against the national goal of 10% and 5.874% to women beneficiaries against national goal of 5%.
The DDC while reviewing the progress of PMJDY asked banks to provide separate data for male and female bank account holders so that proper monitoring of financial inclusion could be tracked. The banks were directed to provide number of villages covered in branch mode and reconciliation of KCC cards so that more beneficiaries could be enrolled.
She further advised the banks and sponsoring agencies to conduct awareness camps in the villages as well as school and colleges . She impressed upon the banks and line department, to ensure effective coordination in their working to achieve desired results.
Ram Kuwal, Lead District Officer, Reserve Bank of India stressed upon covering the unbanked areas of the district through bank branches or BC/BF model.
Surinder Singh, DDM NABARD, gave a detailed view about various developmental projects initiated by NABARD in the district.
CPO, Devinder Singh, GM DIC Krishan Lal , PO DRDA Balbir Singh and representatives of various banks besides the district officers of various departments attended the meeting.
