It is quite heartening that in two vital areas of Housing (Urban), the UT of Jammu and Kashmir has not only performed well but come up with top positions . It may be underlined that in recognition of there being urban housing facilities in deficit and not commensurate with the requirements, the PMAY-Urban scheme was launched with a mission of providing pucca housing for all eligible under identified categories by the end of 2022.
In implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna (Urban), the UT, therefore, was adjudged as “Overall Best Performing Union Territory” and also the best performing UT for implementation of Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHCs). The two Awards were announced for the UT and received also during three day “India Urban Housing Conclave 2022″ which was recently organised by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
While we say ”well done” to the UT Housing and Urban Development Department for such a commendable performance in implementing the PMAY-Urban , at the same time it provides an opportunity to not only perform in other vital areas of the Department’s functions but excel therein to continue to bag more such awards. Such events, where hard work and performance are duly reckoned and recognised, do provide inspiration for others to follow suit under the dictum of “Perform or Perish”.
