KATHUA, Apr 8: Senior Congress leader and party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Udhampur-Doda-Kathua constituency Vikramaditya Singh today launched a scathing attack on the BJP candidate calling him ‘accidental MP’ with zero intent to serve the people.
Addressing a series of public meetings at different villages in Kathua, the Dogra scion said that the incumbent had become the MP for “the first and the last time” in 2014 as the people at that time got carried away by the ‘Jumla-bazi’ of the BJP leaders. He said, everyone has realized now as what a blunder it was to elect an MP who neither had any political credentials nor any inclination to serve the people.
“Probably he knew very well that his Parliamentary tenure had come with a brief expiry date and that is why he did not find it obligatory to work for the constituency”, Vikramaditya Singh said adding that it was a big mistake to expect anything positive from such a person, who had neither any intent nor any interest to serve people.
The Congress candidate also referred to the party manifesto, which, he said, was aimed at ameliorating the plight of every Indian and not just a few big industrial houses as was the case during the BJP regime. “The BJP could not look beyond a few families while rest of the country was left to its own fate”, he said, while promising that the Congress Government will ensure participation and development of all the sections of the society especially those dwelling in remote hamlets.
He ridiculed the statements of the BJP leaders for saying that the Congress manifesto was not implementable. “It is not like your Jumla-bazi where you promised Rs 15 lakh to every Indian and did not pay even 15 paise to anyone”, he told the BJP leaders while asking them to wait and see how policies are implemented as long as right intentions are there to serve people.
“The Congress party’s manifesto has a human face as it addresses the basic needs of common man while at the same time outlining the roadmap for the country’s overall progress”, he said, while cautioning people against getting misled by the intentionally false claims of the BJP.
Prominent among those who attended the public meetings include former MLC Thakur Balbir Singh and Congress leader Karan Singh.
