JAMMU, Dec 7: People of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering with inflation whereas the UT administration is busy in filling its coffers, after handing over water bills to the people, wildly increasing power tariff, and has now completed preparations to collect property tax.
This was stated by Manish Sahni (president, J&K Shiv Sena) while leading a protest against the Government over its planning to introduce property tax in Jammu. Sahni said that the purpose of repealing Article 370 from J&K has proved to be arbitrariness, loot and indifference to public issues.
“Get up, wake up, hit the streets for your rights, can’t tolerate tax collection without facilities, Shiv Sena is with you,” Sahni said while addressing the protesters at Channi crossing near the Party centre office. Sahni said that preparations have been completed to put the burden of property tax on the people who are suffering from the economic crisis and unbridled inflation that started due to demonetization, GST and Corona epidemic.
Sahni said that these days the area of every house and shop is being measured, it is clear that preparations have been made to collect huge property tax from the public. At the same time, nothing is being done in the name of facilities. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is being flouted at various places, collection is being done to collect garbage from the houses, most of the localities have streets and Chowks, he added.
He warned that Shiv Sena will not allow the imposition of property tax under any circumstances. He appealed the public to come on the streets and gear up to teach a lesson to the ruling party and cooperate and support Shiv Sena.
Among those who joined the protest include Party general secretary Vikas Bakshi, GI Singh, senior vice president Harsh Kumar Gupta, president Kamgar wing Raj Singh, secretary Youth wing Rajesh Handa, vice president Shashipal, Sanjeev Sudan, Suman and Meenakshi.
