SAMBA, Dec 14: People staged protest here today against Pollution Control Board (PCB) for not keeping check over the industries polluting river Basantar.
Carrying placards, a large number of people assembled outside PCB office near SIDCO Phase-I here and raised slogans demanding action against the industries polluting river Basantar.
The protest was led by Sarpanch Ravinder Singh Lablu and assisted by social activist Lucky Sambyal.
The protestors alleged that some industries are openly throwing their waste material in river Basantar without any fear of PCB.
They said that PCB has failed to fix the responsibilities of industries polluting river Basantar.
The protestors demanded strict action against the industries polluting the river Basantar.
