JAMMU, May 1: The family members and relatives of a man, who died yesterday following injuries he sustained on April 28 when his scooter was hit by a speeding car in Talab Tillo area, today staged a protest demanding justice and compensation.
The family members of the deceased, who was identified as Kewal Krishan Gupta, son of Ghsitoo Mal, a resident of Talab Tillo, along with their relatives and locals blocked Talab Tillo road for three hours by putting the dead body on the road.
During protest, they alleged that the Kewal was murdered and was not killed in an accident. The agitated family members said that on April 28, Kewal Krishan was going somewhere on his scooter and was hit by a speeding car on Talab Tillo road. Locals of the area immediately shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital wherein doctors referred him to Naryan Hospital at Kakrayal, Katra for advance treatment. But during treatment, today he succumbed to his injuries.
Protesters alleged that there is something fishy, as the police neither responded to their queries not working out the case properly. “We need justice and the persons behind the alleged murder of Kewal should be booked under law”, they demanded.
Officials of police and civil administration reached the spot and pacified the agitated family members who after getting assurances from police and administrative officials lifted the blockade and took the body for last rites.
