People protest with dead body, block Poonch road

POONCH, Oct 26:  The people from Sheen Dara and adjoining areas  held strong protest demonstration along with the dead body of the deceased villager who got electrocuted due to fall of a live cable on him.
Reports said that  young Mohd Ismail (26), son of Noor Mohammad, resident of Sheen Dara, about 14 kms from here on Poonch-Surankote road was moving in his fields last evening when a live cable suddenly fell on him. He got trapped and electrocuted. He was rushed to Poonch hospital where he was declared as brought dead.
Today, at around 10 am, the family members and relatives of the deceased, Mohd Ismail besides villagers of the area kept the dead body of the deceased on the road and started protest demonstration. They were raising slogans against PDD and demanding registration of FIR against the field staff for negligence. They alleged that youth lost life due to alleged negligence of PDD staff.
A large number of vehicles came to halt on the busy highway and massive traffic jam was created.  Later, DySP Headquarters Poonch and Tehsildar reached the spot. They talked to the people but they demanded compensation for the victim’s family and registration of FIR. Later, Executive Engineer PDD and Assistant Commissioner also reached there. An immediate assistance of Rs 10,000 to the family was provided from District Red Cross Fund and Govt assured rupees one lakh compensation. A case FIR No. 100/ 2015 was registered at Mandi Police Station in this connection. The agitating villagers lifted dharna at around 12.30 pm.
