MENDHAR, Oct 16: The people from Sarran Wali Bhatti village held protest demonstration and blocked Mendhar-Surankote road for about two hours today.
They were shouting slogans against the PDD authorities for their failure to restore power for the last two weeks. They also sought shifting of local PDD field staff. The villagers said that lineman of the area told them that transformer was damaged and needed to be shifted to Surankote. It remained lying there for about weeks and then he asked to collect money for shifting it in a private vehicle to workshop at Surankote.
During this process, a few locals having some knowledge of electricity found fuses of transformer disconnected and made the transformer themselves functional.
Then they blocked road and started protest against PDD staff. The road near Galuta remained blocked from 9 am to 11 am today. Then SHO Gursai Sanjay Gupta and Naib Tehsildar Aftab Ahmed arrived there and they assured people action against erring PDD staff. The police also assured to lodge FIR in this connection. Then people then lifted dharna from the road.
