MENDHAR, Mar 20: The people from several villages and hamlets held protest demonstration against the PDD authorities and blocked Mendhar-Jammu road at Dhar Galoon in Balakote for about two hours today.
Reports said that people from the area came out on the road at around 1 pm today and raised barricades. They stopped the movement of vehicles and started raising slogans against PDD authorities and Sub Divisional and District Administration.
The villagers alleged that about half a dozen villages in the area are without power supply. Due to rains/ bad weather the power supply has been affected for the last 2-3 days but the concerned officials have failed to restore the same.
They alleged that not only this area, the power supply is also affected in Salwah, Harni, Pathana Teer, Chhatral and Kalaban.
Later, SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nahim pacified the agitating villagers and assured to take up the matter with SDM and Executive concerned. The people then lifted dharna from the road at around 3 pm.
