Srinagar, Feb 10: People from Kupwara today demanded severe punishment for those involved in the murder of Basit Khan who was killed during a brawl in Jaipur. The people demanded that the accused must be hanged.
Under the banner of an NGO-Kashmir Youth Power, scores of people demand stern punishment to the accused and immediate release of compensation in the favour of the family members of the victim.

“We are here to express our anger on the incident as well as to express our sympathy with the family,” said Mudasir Aziz, a member of the association.
The protestors also demanded that accused should be tried in a fast-track court and justice must be delivered to the family as soon as possible. “We appeal the Rajasthan Government as well the LG, G C Murmu to provide compensation to the family and at the same time we demand that the killers should be given stern punishment,” they demanded.
They said that the fate of the case should not be like we have seen happening with so many other such cases. “Nothing will bring their son, but what will surely make difference is timely justice that should be served to the family,” they said.
The protestors appealed the concerned to take a special interest in the case and help in serving the justice to the family. “They can start from giving due compensation to the family and then following the rest,” they said.
