KATHUA, July 11: Following the protests by the irate residents of Pali Chak Ram Chand who also blocked the National Highway in the evening against the negligent death of an accident victim in the District Hospital Kathua today the Government has constituted a Board of Doctors to probe the same.
This was stated by SSP Kathua, Mohan Lal while talking to Excelsior. After the postmortem of the youth a FIR will be registered in Kathua Police Station against the doctor and in case found guilty action under law will be taken against him, he added.
He said the irate residents of the area and the relatives of the youth have alleged that doctor’s negligence was the result of the death of the youth.
Earlier irate residents of Pali Chak Ram Chand along with relatives of a youth from the village who succumbed to injuries in the district Hospital Kathua due to doctor’s negligence today staged a demonstration in the Hospital premises and later blocked the National Highway at Pali More in the evening.
The protestors, shouting slogans against the Hospital administration, CMO, Director Health and Minister of Health Services demanded action against doctor whose negligence led to death of the youth.
They demanded that FIR be registered against the doctor and action under law be taken against him. The protestors said that the negligence of doctors has led to many deaths in the hospital and cited the recent example of injecting spurious glucose to patients by the staff of the Hospital. They alleged that Government till date has failed to take action against the officials responsible for injecting spurious glucose to patients.
Later the protestors on the assurance of senior officers dispersed. But in the evening they again assembled at National Highway at Pali More and staged a demonstration there demanding a thorough probe into the malfunctioning of the District Hospital Kathua.
They said that despite the adequate supply, the medicines are not being given to patients from hospital and they are asked to purchase the same from market. Even for the X-ray and ultrasound the patients are asked to get the same conducted from the market.
The Highway remained blocked till last reports came in and there was a huge jam from Madhopur to Hiranagar..
The protest was a spontaneous reaction to the death of Punjab Singh, son of Bharat Singh of Pali Chak Ram Chand who was injured in a road mishap on July 8 after his Scotty skidded of the road. He was taken to Kathua Hospital where one orthopedic surgeon after giving treatment discharged him on the same day. Later reaching his home his condition deteriorated yesterday and he was again brought to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries today.
