POONCH, Feb 5: The irate people of Dharana Chowk and adjoining areas today held a protest demonstration near TCP Chowk in Mendhar area, over irregular supply of water in their locality for last many months.
About 60 to 70 people including women and children today assembled at TCP Chowk on Mendhar-Poonch road and raised slogans against PHE department and the concerned JE for ignoring their sufferings in the absence of water supply for last one month.
The protesting people also blocked the road for about three hours and disrupted vehicular traffic. They demanded action against the concerned JE for not ensuring regular water supply in the area even after repeated requests of the locals, who are suffering severely without water. “Even after the water is supplied once in a fortnight, it is dirty and unfit for drinking”, they alleged.
Later, on the assurance of the Incharge SHO, police station Mendhar, Sub Inspector MA Fani, that their grievances will be taken up with the concerned PHE officials, the protesting people lifted the blockade and dispersed.
